Pinocchio

On this project, I worked on my first full sequence.

Since almost every shot had different lighting, I built five separate light rigs to match the plates.

I also adapted the foam material from a different sequence, originally used for beer foam, and adjusted the shader to look like soap foam on the ground.

Additionally, my lead taught me how to efficiently use CEL for the candles, a skill I still find valuable today.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

I was assigned to this project for only two weeks, near the end of the show. While building HDRIs for other sequences, I also had the pleasure of working on this after-credits scene.

I created the light rig and matched the plate, a task I was already very experienced with by that time.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2

Sonic the Hedgehog was a very special experience for me, as I had previously worked on it in layout in 2021. I learned a lot about the pipeline and why certain steps are essential in a large-scale production like this.

In these two shots, I matched the plate and resolved render layer issues, including the shadow pass, lighting on Sonic’s gloves, and adjusting the sequence lighting on Robotnik.

The Little Mermaid Live Action

This was the project I worked on the longest. Thanks to my amazing team, and especially my lead, I was able to learn a great deal about VFX lighting.

I had the opportunity to refine my skills in plate matching, solving technical issues, and picking up shots from colleagues to adjust them when needed, which was especially important when multiple artists worked on the same shot.

Madame Web

This was my first project in Houdini Solaris. The render engine used by Digital Domain was V-Ray, which I had learned back in school. However, Madame Web was one of the more challenging projects I have worked on, as it involved a more TD-focused role and was my first project in Solaris.

The biggest challenges were troubleshooting large setups without any documentation, as my colleagues and I worked together to define a better workflow while transitioning from Maya.

The main tasks on this project were set extension and FX lighting.
